My name is Vicky Hachey, RHN
Allow me a moment to introduce myself and to tell you why I do what I do. My nutrition journey started almost 27 years ago when I noticed different foods were affecting my 2 1/2 year old sonâs behaviour. I began shopping at my local health food store. I was spending so much time there, I asked for a job. While working there, I studied to be a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. In 2006, I opened up my private practice.
In 2008, my mom suffered a stroke. At which time, she came to live with me and my young family. My mom recovered from the stroke, but her brain started atrophying which led to a form of dementia. My mom comes from a family of 11 children, 7 are girls. Out of the 7 women, 5 of the women had a form of dementia.
In the last number of years since my mom's passing, I have been proactive in learning and educating myself and others about keeping your brain nourished, sharp and healthy.
Itâs important to recognize early signs of dementia, such as sleepless nights, blood sugar imbalances, brain fog, lack motivation and just being tired and low energy all the time. Brain health is not always about being forgetful.
With my life experiences in nutrition, I learned early on that it is not âtrendy dietsâ that bring about lasting results, but a solid foundation in nutrition and important lifestyle habits. I use practical approaches to educate, support and create a lifestyle that builds on healthy habits.
